Hi,
I wish to post a message to all list members. I'm a Penn State student looking to get a group together to play disc golf at Circleville Park once a week (maybe more, depending on everyone's availability). I also want to see what kind of feedback I could get on days most suitable for people wanting to play as a group. If something is already set up that I could just join in, that would be great too...I just end up playing alone when I go and am looking for company! Thanks!

Hello,
I have not been to Circleville park yet, but would love to start going (I
haven't been there yet because none of my friends play disc golf).  I am good
for basically any time on Thursdays or on the weekends (though preferably not
during Steeler's games and definitely not during PSU games).  Let me know.

I'd be up for that.  I'm a new grad student here this year and used to 
play weekly or more in undergrad at Clemson Univ.  Generally there we 
just had several object courses that we played on campus.  I was 
actually wondering if anyone had made up an object course on PSU's 
campus - this would be a lot more convenient as I'm pretty much on 
campus all day anyways and don't have quick access to my car to drive 
elsewhere until later in the evening.



Generally I would be free on weekends except Sunday night, and generally 
after 5:30 PM M W F or after 6:30 on T TH.

Hey Guys,

This is some great discussion.  I've always dreamed of a regular disc golf
league in State College and I hoped that once we got a course installed, it
would happen.

As far as scheduling goes, I'd like to avoid Ultimate frisbee pick-up
times.  The HVU pick-up happens on Wednesdays and Fridays at ~5:30 and
Sundays at 1:00.  Would Mondays at 5:30 work for the majority of people?

Also, please be patient and stay off of the course over the next two weeks.
They just finished seeding and with the rain and cooler weather, the young
grass will be popping up and shouldn't be walked on for a little while.

An official "course open" message will be coming in the near future.  There
is still a little bit more that needs to be finished at the park before
making the announcement and listing the course on the PDGA website.

This is fantastic.  Mondays sound good for everyone else.  5:30 is a
good time for now, but with the days getting shorter, in a month, or
even in a few weeks, it could be getting dark.

i couldn't make weekdays anyways.

i am down for anytime on Saturday or Sunday.  I know Sundays are
football, so i'd like to propose having a 10AM round, and and/or a
noon round.

this may be jumping the gun, but, anyone interested in tags?  Like a
bag tag challenge?  maybe not this year (unless you want) but perhaps
next March.

btw...i've played with Candace.  She's got a helluva arm.

I was waiting for class to start today and followed someone who had a good sized stack of discs walking in front of the Willard building...I'm curious to know if this person is on this mailing list! 

Also, since our group is waiting for 2 weeks to start getting together on Mondays at Circleville, I was wondering if anyone wanted to head to the object courses on campus at the same time (Mondays at 530) until Circleville groups start! Thank you

Wow - some good activity on the listserv recently!!  Once Circleville is open I'm game for midday lunch rounds on Tues/Thurs this semester. I'm happy to drive...3 seats available, leaving PSU around 11:15 and returning by 1. (or, mid afternoon Thursdays as well)

Also - we have an object course here on the campus of Juniata, 35 minutes south of PSU. I'm an associate professor of music here. If anyone's up for a beautiful drive down Rt. 26 some fall weekend, let me know; I'd be glad to host.

Subject: [HVDG] Circleville Park Course Stats

HVDGers,

I've been trying to get the course map and signage stuff finished, but I
thought you all might like to know the stats before I'm done.  Here are the
lengths:

1 - 210 ft.
2 - 185 ft.
3 - 280 ft.
4 - 220 ft.
5 - 210 ft.
6 - 210 ft.
7 - 315 ft.
8 - 280 ft.
9 - 140 ft.
Total - 2050 ft.

The newly seeded grass still isn't quite strong enough to play on.  I'll
check on it later this week and get an announcement approved by Patton Twp.
Just be patient.  We should be open within a week or two.

Curt, do you have a course listing for the on-campus object course to keep
the wolves at bay?

I was going to try to do the object course, but I really don't know where it 
is...we may have to wait till later this week or next week until we know 
where the object course is.

Sorry I'm so persistant, but I have a tourney coming up in early October

Very nice.  I'm a wolf.  I didnt even know there was an object course on campus.

Any word on getting baskets installed there for future purposes?  and,
im sorry if im asking questions that have, long since been answered.

any record for the circleville park yet.  admittingly, i've played it
before i knew i shouldnt have.  I was 6 under for 9 holes, with missed
putts and errant throws.

we havent yet decided on a weekly for circleville.  I'm down for a
Sunday morning match.  I can probably make it every other week.

Questions?  Comments?  Outright ridicule?

HVDGers,

You can now officially play the course at Circleville Park.  The grass has
done quite well over the last two weeks and is okay to walk on.

I'll be there tonight around 6:00.  If any of you would like to play, come
on by.

If there isn't any major disagreement, Mondays at 6:00 can be a regular
meeting.

I've had some others also suggest setting up Sunday morning play and a
ladder challenge (AKA tag challenge or just tags).  If you're interested in
either of those, let me know.

There are still some things that need to be finished at the course.  I still
have to order tee signs, course map and rules sign.

I can only play on Sundays with the club members, but i'm usually out
Saturdays as well.

I think for the rest of the season we should play random doubles, (best lie,
alternate shot, etc.)

The Sun is going down sooner, and the season is closing out for a lot of
players.  I believe we can play tags (and sell tags) next year if there is
enough interest.  I know of a few contacts if we want Aluminum bag tags, or
plastic bag tags.

By the way, is HPDG sponsored?  or should we run fundraisers?  Because a tag
challenge, and Acepots are a great way to earn a lil' money for Merchandise.

I plan on two rounds (9 holes) then lunch, and then possibly two more rounds
