Happy Valley Disc Golfers,

It's been a while since I've written up a full post to this list describing
the activities of the club officers. Since my last note a lot of great
things have happened and all of them are going to line up to make a big
summer for disc golf in Happy Valley.

First off, Patton Township has received notification that they will be
awarded a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural
Resources for improvements at Circleville Park. Expanding the boundaries of
the current park, improving and adding plantings, adding cement tee pads for
six more holes, and adding professional signage are all improvements that
were included in their proposal that affect the disc golf course. This is
all great news for disc golfers and means that we will have our prayers
answered with a full, nine-hole course.

We are still seeking donations to purchase the remaining baskets for the
last six holes of our nine hole course. If you're interested in sponsoring
a hole or have any ideas for raising funds, please send me an e-mail and
I'll be happy to let you know all about making a donation. Those of you who
have already contacted me about sponsorship, I'll be sending you more
detailed information in the coming weeks.

If there is anyone out there interested in organizing playtimes or
mini-tournaments at Circleville Park sometime over the summer, let me know.
I know a few people with portable baskets that would bring them to make for
a larger course if there is enough interest. Also, if you're going to go
play a round and want someone to play with, feel free to post it to this
e-mail list.

Lastly, the PDGA Pro Disc Golf World Championships are coming to
Pennsylvania from July 23-30. The biggest tournament of the year is being
held in around Allentown. If you're interested in going or volunteering at
the tourney, check out http://2005worlds.org/. Some of us are making plans
to attend so carpooling may be an option.

Later,
Micah Willy
